The Law of the Mind

There is a strength that is shining and rising, even in the midst of a crooked and dark generation. God’s hand of favor is upon you, and Jesus wants you to win in everything He has called you to do.

The law of the mind is important in the process of accessing what God has promised you. How do you turn His calling for your life into a present reality? How do you move it from the inside to the outside and implement the promises from the Word of God into your everyday existence?

The world we are living in now is filled with crisis fatigue, wars, and rumors of wars—everything Matthew 24 teaches about is happening in real time. It is directly in front of us. However, God Almighty wants you to overcome and to live, move, and have your being in Him. You are walking in and living the blessing of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, because Christ Jesus is the singular seed of Abraham (see Galatians 3:16).

When you operate in John 15:1-8, abiding in the vine and attached to Him, then what Jesus attained through the covenant is available to you to be manifested in the world. However, you must be aware that there are many counterfeits of the term “manifesting.” Influencers talk about “manifesting your destiny”; however, the world and the enemy are not originators. All they do is hijack principles and truth from the Word of God.

The truth is that God created us with a spirit, soul, and body. It is important to understand how this operates because it will change your life. The Lord has been asking me, “Joseph, have you thought about what you are thinking about?” It’s time for us to start considering what we are thinking about and what we are meditating on.

The Heart is Like Soil

A heart is not just something on the inside. It includes your inner feelings, willpower, and imagination. It is important to think about your heart as soil. Whatever you are sowing into the soil, through thinking, speaking, and continually meditating, are things that will populate the soil. A heart will germinate whatever seed is planted in it.

Whatever that seed may be, you cannot walk in a direction you have not thought about. You don’t arbitrarily just sin. You have to think about it in advance or as you do it. Conversely, it is a very powerful, positive thing when you fill your heart with the Word of God, promises of God, and meditate on what those promises provide.

For example, when you understand that God wants you to be whole, excel, and live freely and lightly, you can meditate on the truth of that. You may meditate on the truth “God loves me,” over and over again, or “I am the righteousness of God.” From that, you develop a righteousness complex inside you because of what Jesus Christ has done. When you think that way, it changes the image of yourself on the inside, your identity, and the direction for your life. Consider what you are thinking about.

Renewing Your Mind

Many people struggle because their thought lives are hijacked. Doom scrolling is an issue because it hijacks your thought processes and puts images and ideas in your mind that God never intended for you to meditate on. Instead, we must renew our minds in the Word of God. As Ephesians 5 teaches, we wash our minds with the water of the Word.

That He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word.

                                                                                                   —Ephesians 5:26

When you meditate on the Word of God, those obsessive thoughts about negative things get replaced by a weapon of faith. Suddenly, with the Word of God in your mind, you will find yourself obsessing over Scripture, what Jesus has done for you, and focusing on all the things He wants for you. Eventually, you pull things into the natural by faith because you use your mind correctly. It is a God-given gift to dig into the Word of God, renew your mind, and use it with purpose and accuracy. When you operate under the Word, things start working for you.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

                                                                                                   —Romans 12:2

Romans 12:2 is an important scripture because it relates to having a proper understanding of how to look at things and access them. Notice it says, do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. It doesn’t say to renew your heart, body, or spirit. It says it’s by the renewing of your mind. Why? Because your mind is a creation center, an incubator that will give birth to things that can happen in the natural. There are spiritual forces and laws of attraction at work.

For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

                                                                                                   —Romans 12:3

In Romans 12:3, Paul says that it is through the grace given to him. Every believer has a grace lane and calling. You should never try to do somebody else’s grace or calling. However, when you find the grace that God has given you, you have the empowerment to overcome sin, fulfill the call on your life, and have momentum.

Paul goes on to say in Romans 12:3, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think. Religion often interprets that meaning to be a worm, to be nothing, or to feel like a loser. He is saying not to think beyond what God has called you to do. You must identify, through the renewing of your mind, what God has called you to do and where He has called you to be. Doing this amplifies your destiny. God has dealt to each one a measure of Jesus’ faith inside them, and God wants you to find your destiny more than you do. You have been built for a reason: to fulfill the destiny He has for you.

Sober thinking is where your thoughts are renewed to the Word of God. Many people view being sober-minded as concluding they have to walk a rigid line. However, when the Word of God is flowing on the inside, you can have unspeakable joy, be full of glory, and have pleasures forevermore in the presence of God Almighty.

With an imagination that is purified, filled with the Word of God, and activated, you can move freely and lightly because God Almighty is with you. When I first applied my imagination to envision God’s promises fulfilled, I needed to give myself permission because it felt as though I was being intellectually dishonest. I would sit down and, by faith, use my imagination to picture a promise done. I imagined myself standing in it, walking in it, receiving it, and allowing my emotions to go there as if it were already happening.

I was using the law of the mind and staying in the Word of God by a promise He drew me toward. That is real vision. When God births a vision in you from renewing your mind and spending time with Him, and you apply your imagination to it, that is using your faith. It is not some goofy desire of the flesh but a desire by faith because you are lining up with the Word of God.

The worlds were formed inside of God’s heart long before they were formed physically. When I spent time meditating on the vision He gave me, my heart got so happy, peace filled me, and joy came over me. Worldly people try to counterfeit this strategy for selfish desires, but they don’t have the Word of God running the show. Therefore, it is just carnal fulfillment. The Bible calls a carnal fulfillment a “vain imagination,” which is the opposite of the sober thinking Paul describes in Romans 12:3.

The Natural and Spiritual

It is important to understand that there is a natural world, and there is a realm of the spirit where God is.

God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.

                                                                                                   —John 4:24

Within the soul are the mind, will, and emotions. The spirit is where you are born again, and all the attributes of God’s promises are present. How do we get those promises into the natural?

Here mortal men receive tithes, but there he receives them, of whom it is witnessed that he lives.

                                                                                                   —Hebrews 7:8

We see a principle regarding giving and receiving. We can say it this way: There is a “here” principle in the natural, and a “there” principle in the spirit. If you participate in a spiritual action in the natural, your mind, will, and emotions often have many things to say about it. However, when you renew your mind to the Word of God and press past the veil of the soul, you engage a spiritual reality. “Here,” in the natural, you drop an offering in the bucket. “There,” in the spirit, Jesus receives it.

In addition, taking a faith-filled action in the natural stirs up what is already done in the Spirit, causing a miraculous response to reverberate back into your physical life. This works for healing depression, destiny, and everything in your life. It starts from a place of renewing your mind, will, and emotions through prayer, worship, and consistently taking in the spiritual truth of the Word of God. From there, your faith actions will flow from a place of preparation. The same principle applies when your imagination is renewed to the Word of God; by dreaming and envisioning, you can draw things into reality.

But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

                                                                                                   —Romans 7:23

One of the aspects of the law of the mind is that there is a law in your members warring against the law of your mind; it is trying to make you think about sinful, fleshly things. Because whatever you are thinking about, you are incubating and creating. If you are thinking about terrible, perverse, obsessive, or fearful things, that is what you are planting. That is why horror movies or negative content can be so detrimental. They leave an imprint. You might say, “I am not afraid of that stuff,” but it doesn’t matter because you still remember it. There is something working behind that which tries to latch on and hijack your imagination. The law of sin is enticing, but eventually it brings death. That’s why it is enticing—if it can get your mind in that process, eventually it is going to conceive and give birth to death.

However, the law of the mind, or incubation center, is where you are meditating and creating reality. When you add the hot sauce of speaking out loud, you are proclaiming in faith what you are seeing in your mind. Pessimists do this every day. They think negatively and say it, and they are correct because they get exactly what they speak. However, if you stand on the Word of God for the promises of God, you begin to counter that. It may not come to pass instantly, but you start fixing your imagination on the Word of God and what you want to see according to the promise He has given you. Then you speak.

That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

                                                                                                   —Romans 10:9-10

You must have a heart and mouth connection. When you are dreaming and imagining something from the Lord, you need to get that strong on the inside, where you truly believe it, and start speaking it externally. When you do this, you will see things birthed into your destiny. The more you meditate on the Word, the more you purge your carnal mind, get rid of that old thinking, and start seeing breakthrough. You will be more free, content, and you won’t be so shaken up or double-minded all the time. Even your emotions will find stability because you are finally solid, building your house on the rock, the Word of God, and that house cannot be moved.

I’m believing for huge things in the future, meditating, and walking in the dreams and visions God has given me. If you will do this in your life, you are going to see those visions break loose. You do not have to dwell on the negative; instead, use your imagination, pack it with the Word of God, and believe for things. Act accordingly, work hard, and walk in the vision.

For Jesus,

Joseph Z
