Learning to Carry the Prophetic
God first spoke audibly to me at nine, calling to me while I was in a field on the ranch. I thought it was my dad, so I went back and asked why he called me. He said he did not call me and told me to get back to work. It kept happening until I realized it was the Lord. During my youth, I continued to hear the Voice of God. I would have experiences where I would see something in my spirit that would happen within a few days.
When I was thirteen, I got born again, and one side of the family threw me out of the house— along with a big inheritance I was supposed to have. They said I could do it; I just could not do it there.
One night, around midnight, I felt an urgency to go to our family cemetery. There were no lights, and I had not brought a flashlight. The only thing missing was a howling wolf! I found one of my relatives’ tombstones, and, while standing there, the Spirit of the Lord came upon me. I declared that everything ever done in my family’s history ends with me, because “…as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (see Joshua 24:15).
About a week later, I entered a seeker-friendly church, the kind where they do puppet shows to get people saved. A woman screamed and said, “The voices said you would be here!”
I said, “I have a message for the voices: Shut up in Jesus’ name!”
She hit the deck, and it was chaos. I got down beside her and started commanding those spirits to leave, and as they came out, they said, “We know you; we were there in the cemetery last week watching you.”
After that, she ran away to get her warlock friend, and about a week later they showed up at my house. The warlock was bloodletting to try to get at us. I was a young believer at the time, and today I would handle it differently by using the name of Jesus. However, back then I just said, “Look, bro, if you don’t get off this property, I’m going to beat you to your knees.” They decided to leave.
I’ve had many prophetic experiences similar to this where I have encountered witchcraft and Satanists. Throughout the years, I’ve learned many things about God the Father, God the Son, and who I like to call “Uncle Holy Ghost.” I am reverent of Him, yet sometimes He acts like your crazy uncle who shows up on your lawn on a motorcycle, hair blowing in the wind, saying, “Your Dad loves you. Your Brother thinks you’re awesome. Get on the bike right now.” The Holy Ghost will sometimes terrify you before He will edify you.
I was once in a meeting where the Holy Ghost said, “See that guy in the third row? He is a Satanist. Tell him.” The man was in khaki pants and looked like a librarian, but I complied with the Holy Ghost.
I said to him, “Sir, you are a Satanist.”
And he said, “I am.”
He was there to have a throwdown. I told him the god he serves does not love him, will use him up, drag his soul to hell, and that he had been lied to by some angel of light. If he wanted a throwdown, I was his huckleberry; however, Jesus has the power to save him. He stood up and decided to get saved.
The Lord called me into the prophetic, although it was the last thing I wanted because I have seen so much weirdness that revolves around the prophetic. I tried to hide from my gifting for years. In fact, sometimes, I would get words of knowledge and hold them back. I wanted to be a teacher who has dignity, and at one point I was pastoring three campuses at once.
However, God called Heather and me into the prophetic, and we started prophetic meetings when we were very young. Near the end of that season, I was prophesying to a few hundred people at a time in stadium meetings. A powerful man of faith said, “Son, I have never seen anybody prophesy like that,” and then he said, “But I am not impressed at all.” Through that encounter, I discovered that the Lord wants us to let Him love His people through us, and I needed to cultivate that.
The Lord dealt with me until He told me to sit down for two years. During that time in the mountains, I was reading Ephesians 4, and I realized prophets and all the fivefold are here to edify and equip the body. That was a big revelation. Ministry is about people!
And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.
—Ephesians 4:11-13
Correction in the Body of Christ
Heather and I realized that there is order, training, and a right-sizing that is needed in the prophetic. The church needs to right-size spiritual gifts and create maturity, because every believer is destined to mature. If you walk in the gifts, they need to be founded on the fruits of the Spirit and on character. Gifting will get you to the top of the mountain, but character will keep you there.
Read your Bible until it starts talking back to you, pray in tongues, and surround yourself with anointed teachers. When you do this, your gifting and calling will find you, and you can receive the best form of deliverance, which is ongoing good biblical teaching. I believe the prophets are coming, and God is building them by His love.
They found grace out in the desert, these people who survived the killing. Israel, out looking for a place to rest, met God out looking for them! God told them, “I’ve never quit loving you and never will. Expect love, love, and more love! And so now I’ll start over with you and build you up again, dear virgin Israel. You’ll resume your singing, grabbing tambourines and joining the dance. You’ll go back to your old work of planting vineyards on the Samaritan hillsides, and sit back and enjoy the fruit—oh, how you’ll enjoy those harvests! The time’s coming when watchmen will call out from the hilltops of Ephraim: ‘On your feet! Let’s go to Zion, go to meet our God!’”
—Jeremiah 31:2-6 (MSG)
Jesus Didn’t Come to Condemn
Here is an announcement: God is not mad at you. Jesus loves you, and there is nothing you can do about it.
For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
—John 3:17
People have asked me whether I ever see the sin in people. Many times you do see some things. Then they ask why I do not just call it out in the meeting. I tell them, “That is a good idea. Let’s start with you.” Jesus did not come to condemn; He came to give us every opportunity to repent.
I was in a huge meeting once when Uncle Holy Ghost said, “Tell that man in the balcony to repent, or he is going to die, and tell them why publicly.” So I shouted that it was his last chance. He came running down and wept at the altar; his wife met him there, and life came. If Jesus wanted to condemn us, we would all be toast.
When you get prophetic words, you may start thinking about everything else you have going on rather than what is being spoken over you. The Lord knows that, and in His mercy, He wants to draw you. I know this may sound harsh, but if He has to call you out in a meeting, you might be about to die. You may want to get right with Him and listen to what He is telling you to do.
There is strength, victory, and the favor and goodness of God. There is a change of grace coming, like a new armament, and some of you will reach into your closet spiritually and have a wardrobe change. Intercession, advancement, and favor are coming as resources.
A Word for Many
I feel this word in my spirit for many; you are going to find something hidden in your home, and when you find it, it will be revealing and a little exposing to somebody else in your home. The Lord is saying to let your first reaction be mercy, and then light will come.
Things you have suspected will be revealed, and the Lord says, “It is okay.” Jesus did not come to condemn the world. The Lord is meeting you in some of the former things you used to do. He is going to meet you in wells of revival and perform a retrofit, a new work on an old foundation, and bring a fresh watering to it. When it begins, it will break loose around you.
I see those who have reallocated and reorganized over the great reset of 2030. The great reset is upset, and there is now a realignment for another plan. The Spirit of the Lord says, “I see you, and yet I will upset you again, and I will bring strength into the nations. Do not say it shall be evil and wicked, for great days are coming to the land. Light and darkness will rise simultaneously, and light shall overcome the dark.”
The Lord says He will raise up a foundation of apostles and prophets to confront Jezebel, witchcraft, and humanism. For the high places have come before Him. He will raise up the young lions with the face of a lion.
For thirty years the prophecy has been here, and for thirty years the intercessors have cried out to Him. Now the response is coming. It took thirty years to raise up young lions. The devil will not have the final say, for He who sits in the heavens laughs (see Psalm 2:4).
You will see a shift in the political environment regarding hidden money, stolen resources, and underground agreements. When the water wars break out, the Spirit of the Lord says He will defy the Goliath of the land through His young lions and bring light into darkness.
Four Years, and What Comes Next
In 2024, I was standing in the back of a meeting when the Voice of God roared from the auditorium stage. It hit my heart, my spirit, and my intellect at once and knocked me into the chair. Nobody else heard anything. What I heard was, “Come up here. Come up higher, Joseph.”
After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”
—Revelation 4:1
About two weeks later, the Lord woke me early and told me to drive to the top of Pikes Peak. I was standing up there looking at the Front Range. Then the Spirit of the Lord said, “I have called you as one of the watchmen over America’s mountain, the purple mountain majesty in the song we sing.”
Shortly after, Rick Renner invited me on a tour of the seven churches in Revelation. I stood in Ephesus where the apostle John’s house would have been, looking down on the ruins of the temple of Artemis. I think Domitian had told him to burn incense to him, and John’s response was no. John stood there as a watchman over his generation, and the Lord began to speak to me about America and the watchmen.
Then Heather and I went to eastern Turkey, on the Iran border, to the Durupinar site that many believe is Noah’s Ark. An earthquake revealed it, and it is the exact dimensions of the biblical boat. That earthquake was in 1948, the same year the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered and Israel became a nation. It seems like the days of Noah are on our doorstep.
Standing there, the Lord said that as He saved those eight souls, so will He preserve His people through four years of redemptive instability (see 1 Peter 3:20). That brings us to 2028, and I believe we are in the Valley of Decision.
2028 is the gate, and a major window is coming, which is why an apostolic uprising is coming. There is also a wealth transfer, and not the way goofy people have said it. You cannot fall like Scrooge McDuck into a pile of coins. Every believer has to be positioned, every joint supplying, where God has called them (see Ephesians 4:16).
The year 2029 scares me a bit, but in Jesus, we are not afraid. The asteroid Apophis will fly under our satellites on April 13, 2029. It is confirmed by NASA to be the size of the Eiffel Tower. Some prophetically believe it will strike the Earth, and others believe it will only graze the Earth and come back seven years later. I have no fear regarding this because, although I feel pressure, I do not see the disaster occurring that they are talking about.
God is with us, and if He is for you, then who can be against you (see Romans 8:31)? He works all things together for the good of those who love Him (see Romans 8:28). Remember, it’s Christ in you, the hope of glory, and on a bad day, you are anointed to be the very best there is (see Colossians 1:27)!
For Jesus,
Joseph Z
