Dear Partners and Friends,
This month, I wanted to share a message directly from my book, The Spirit of Elijah. Now more than ever, we must be alive with awareness and the presence of God as we face the oncoming pressure of darkness in the earth. Jesus has made a way unlike any other way for these days, and you were born for it. Moving in the Spirit of Elijah simply means you are part of the active body of Christ and will stand up to the demonic forces desiring to assault our generation.
Thank you, partners, for standing with us as we continue to raise up a million reformers to win a billion converts for Jesus!
One Reformer Against an Army of Darkness!
Prophets of darkness stood in assembly—450 prophets of Baal, with 400 prophets of the female goddess Asherah who dined at the vile table of Jezebel. Together, they awaited the arrival of the one King Ahab labeled the “troubler of Israel.” These prophets and all of Israel came together at the prophet’s request. The same prophet who declared no rain would come to their land. A gathering of this kind would not have occurred had the nation not suffered drought and famine. These idolatrous figures, with their king among them, would not have answered such a roll call unless the circumstances were so dire. On this day, however, all in attendance stood in anticipation of the arrival of the prophet Elijah.
Elijah set foot on Mount Carmel, and because of Elijah’s directive—that Ahab would summon the people from all over Israel—it is likely that hundreds, if not thousands, came together on Mount Carmel for this spectacle. The nation was in the midst of a horrific famine, and desperation was likely the driving force behind everyone coming to Carmel.

The prophet of God, in the right strategic location, at the right time, and under divine orders, took his first steps into this mountain arena to face Jezebel’s demonic horde. Imagine one man of God against these prophets of Baal, with an entire nation watching. If this were a modern-day scenario, it would likely be a live televised event with the whole world watching. Yet there they were, Elijah, gazing confidently at this occultic army.
When Elijah finally arrived, he told the crowd he was the only prophet of God remaining who would stand against these ungodly characters. Remember this: One man with a revelation from God is not at the mercy of a culture gone mad! Elijah, the man of God, had a revelation, and, in this instance, he would soon prove that he was the majority. The evildoers must have arrogantly thought that one way or another, We will overwhelm Elijah.
When all the people had assembled, Elijah, the reformer of his generation, stood before them and challenged them to end their double-mindedness and to stop wavering between two opinions! It wasn’t enough that he told the people they needed to choose. They needed more—a demonstration!.
Elijah had an understanding that the modern-day Church should take notice of. First, he was calling the shots. Why? Because he had a word from God. As I often say, “A man or woman with a word from God is not at the mercy of a culture going mad.” Certainly, this was the case with Elijah, yet it must be stated that Elijah was not acting presumptuously. Instead, he was bold at this moment, for he knew that God had spoken to him. Due to his word from God, he was fearless against the army of darkness standing before him. Modern believers are often timid and passive because right at the beginning of a matter, they are most often void of a word from the Lord. Our modern churches need a word from God, which will induce boldness to act, speak up, and even demonstrate to the unbelieving world.
Elijah declared, “Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that You are the LORD God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.” Then the FIRE of the LORD FELL and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench. Now, when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, “The LORD, He is God! The LORD, He is God!”
—1 Kings 18:37-39
Elijah not only made a declaration but was also present for its fulfillment. The God who answers by fire made good on Elijah’s declaration. Hope was not deferred, so the people moved toward the Lord, falling on their faces in repentance and worship to admonish the Lord by saying, “He is God!”
At the end of it all, the declaration, the sarcasm (when he mocked the false prophets), the fire, and the judgment (the prophets of Baal were executed) bring blessings to the land. Elijah ushered in the blessing of rain. First, removing what was blocking the Lord’s blessing had to be confronted, and then came the rain.
We are in a war for the hearts of a generation. That is why Elijah came to his generation. That is why you are reading this right now. To confront the spirit of Antichrist and raise the next round of believers!
How can we participate? What can we do to make a difference? The answer is to do what we can, where we can, and as we can. Obeying and doing the work of God is vital. It can be prayer, raising children in the knowledge of the Lord,or consistency with a job to influence those in your orbit. Sometimes, it’s to reach the one in your sphere of influence and bring them to know who Jesus is. It is simply our obedience that matters most.
You doing your part in this is part of hastening the coming of the Lord. Know this: God wants you to win even more than you do. God desires for you to walk in revelation, knowledge, healing, joy, and peace with complete deliverance while doing good and destroying the works of the devil. That was Jesus’ mode of operation, and it is yours. Fear has no place in your life. God wants you to be free of concern and fear even more than you do. He wants to work with you on His Great Commission to see the purpose of His amazing will come to pass on earth as it is in heaven.
Jesus is with you until the very end of this age and well beyond. Any power of darkness or systems of evil that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God in your life is running right into that greater One who lives within you.
To walk in the spirit of Elijah means to find your place in the body of Messiah, be faithful and diligent, find out what God wants you to do, and make your plans big! God is the author of peace and increase. If you set your mind and heart on building His kingdom, God will make a way for you in the amazing saga in which He has placed you in this life to participate.
Be bold, be strong, eagerly desire the return of Jesus, but equal to that desire, be sure to occupy and become immersed in accomplishing His will. You will see unbelievable miracles and opportunities to do the impossible, and the desires of your heart come to pass. God wants you to experience the full quality of life He provided you while you do His will.
For Jesus,
Joseph Z
