Dear Partners and Friends,

The most significant moment of our adult lives has happened. As many of you know, we have been anticipating the birth of our granddaughter, and the beginning of June brought her to us. It was an incredible moment filled with blessings and no complications at all. Our wonderful daughter and son-in-law, Alison and Jeremy, welcomed our granddaughter, Sophia Joy. We have been praying over and blessing her every day, and all cried a little while holding her, praising God for His kindness toward us at this time. Nothing quite prepares you for the significance of having a grandchild. 

Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb is a reward. 4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. 5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; They shall not be ashamed, but shall speak with their enemies in the gate.

—Psalm 127:3-5

Children are a heritage from the Lord, and the fruit of the womb is a reward! We sure feel that way as baby Sophia Joy came into our lives. I’m reminded of Psalm 128, which states:

Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine in the very heart of your house, your children like olive plants all around your table. —Psalm 128:3 

These are moments in life for reflection, and a great point to consider the future. Grandchildren are a gift that should make people remember where they come from and what legacy they will leave in this world. How will they prepare a path for the new ones who will one day stand with a voice in society? 

Considering that the future is in the hands of those we raise, I thought that what we do with our lives is a pathway that lays the road for those coming after us. Psalm 102:18 states something that has been with me since my younger years.

This will be written for the generation to come, that a people yet to be created may praise the LORD. —Psalm 102:18

Let what we do for the Lord, all the sacrifices, days of service, and exploits be written and recorded for a generation that is not even here yet, that one day they may read it and give the Lord praise. Consider that your days are like a book.

Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.—Psalm 139:16  

You number my wanderings; put my tears into Your bottle; are they not in Your book? —Psalm 56:8  

In our day and time, the world is desperately looking for guidance and heroes, and there is a rising demand for mentors. Your station and mine are to do what God has called us to do with all our might. One example I think of is when team members ask me if their son or daughter can come along for a conference or a special event we are putting on. My answer is always yes, if it is feasible. Children and the next generation must be a part of as much as we can offer them. Otherwise, they will lose the opportunity for on-the-job training and discipleship by observation. 

After all, the Apostle Paul stated, “though you have ten thousand ‘boy instructors,’  you do not have many fathers” (see 1 Corinthians 4:15). A father or a mother in the faith is worthy of imitation. No matter our greatest efforts, what is of highest importance is to develop our lives to follow Jesus. Be a person who reads the Word of God and is separated to prayer and worship. Fill your mind and heart with the promises of God and put them on display for those around you. More is caught than taught, and that is the truth. 

There has never been a greater demand on our lives and the ministry God has called us to. As I write this, we just returned from our Voice of God conference in Dallas, TX. The impact of the conference was monumental! Among the tremendous speakers who joined us, Gene Bailey and Flashpoint were part of our prophetic panel Saturday morning, and they broadcast our discussion on Flashpoint LIVE. Between our audience and Flashpoint, several thousand people joined us live in real time. What a blessing that was.

Many attendees told the team and me that they loved the special vision lunch we made available. At that luncheon, we had over 160 guests, and it was enjoyable spending time with partners and friends from all over. We will also be doing a vision lunch for our October conference. If you are interested in attending that, there is a fee to reserve a seat and meal, so please take advantage of that right away to join Heather and me for a time set apart for our partners.
