Dear Partners and Friends, this past month has been tremendously productive because of our partners’ support and generosity. I want to thank our partners and every giver who has graciously sown into us and the mission of a million for a billion. Much of what we do every day involves investing many hours into everyone who has an ear to hear, and beyond that, by the Spirit of God, we influence influencers—by saying that, I don’t mean in a shallow way. The influence God has allowed us to have with leaders and current or rising influencers is an assignment to advance the body of Christ by helping leaders find their way and stay on the way. 

By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

—John 15:8

Think about that verse for a moment! God is glorified by you bearing much fruit. Much fruit, not a little fruit; and it doesn’t say that God is glorified by you being fruitful. Rather, Jesus clearly states that you bear much fruit. To get a better understanding of what Jesus is saying, let’s get a running start at that verse. Often without a running start what we can experience is a text without its context, a pretext. Let’s look at what Jesus said. 

I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. ⁶ If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. ⁷ If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. ⁸ By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

—John 15:5-8

In verse 5, Jesus lays the groundwork by saying we are to abide in Him and He within us. The result of this is we bear much fruit. After He lays the foundation for bearing much fruit, Jesus then shows the antithesis—those who do not abide in Him are cast out as a branch is withered. What an interesting statement by Jesus. If someone does not abide in Jesus, and has Jesus abiding in them, by default, they are cast out. Not only that, they are like a branch withered. Why? Because any branch separated from the vine, or the source, is destined to wilt and wither. Jesus even adds, they are gathered and thrown into the fire and burned. Here is the good part for everyone who remains in Him—If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask… Stay on that statement for a moment! 

If you abide in Him and He abides in you, Jesus then adds, “you will ask,” not you can ask, rather, you will ask. Meaning, asking is a byproduct and automatic operation of anyone who is abiding in Him and He in them! WOW! Think about that! Those who abide are those who ask! But wait, it goes to a heightened level with what He says next. Right as He says, “you will ask” in the same sentence Jesus adds, “what you desire…” What!? What you desire! From there Jesus takes it to a whole new level. Those who abide in Me will ask what they desire. Meaning what is burning in their heart or mind. 

DESIRES 

The Greek word for “desire” is thélō, which means to will, to have a purpose for or intend for something and have it in mind.

Desiring something is all about what is in your heart and mind. But more than just having something in your heart, it must be a primary focus in your mind with more purpose and intent. 

THE LAW OF THE MIND

But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

—Romans 7:23

In Romans 7:23, Paul is speaking about the law of his mind. What is the law of the mind? 

Once you understand the law of the mind, you might be surprised to discover its power and how it works for your good and to your demise if not properly governed. The law of the mind means your seat of thinking, reasoning, meditating, imagination, and ultimately your ability to create something. I will say it plainly, and then we will unpack it a little more. The law of the mind is your computer center designed to create whatever you feed and focus it on. 

A simpler way of saying it would be that whatever you meditate on, you are creating in your life—and I don’t mean figuratively; rather, it is a literal creation. If you meditate on anything long enough and intensely enough, the law of the mind will produce it in your actions and draw what it is that you “desire” to you—events, moments, things, and all for good or evil depending on how the incubator of creating is utilized. 

ISSUES OF LIFE

Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.

—Proverbs 4:23 

All of this concerns the heart because the book of Proverbs tells us that we must guard the heart with all diligence, for the issues of life flow from it. In the Old Testament, the heart was the only way they knew how to explain the inner workings of mankind. 

There was no distinction between spirit, soul, and body in the Old Testament era. First, Thessalonians 5:23: “Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

BODY AND HEART 

In the Old Testament, there was the body and the heart. The heart was all the inner workings of a man. For example, when Psalms 84:2 says, “My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God,” you can see there were only the two—heart and flesh. The heart represented in the Old Testament, mind, soul, and spirit were combined into one; there wasn’t any separation in their understanding of that aspect of a human being. 

That is until the New Testament revelation of Jesus came onto the scene and changed everything! Suddenly, the Word was made flesh, and things were revealed in a greater manner. 

Look at what Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

Jesus said that anyone disconnected from Him, the Vine, will wither. They wither because their desire is not connected to Him and His will. They also miss the power of the Spirit to breathe Holy Spirit life into a desire and cause it to spring to life in the natural through asking. 

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.

—Matthew 12:35 

But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. ¹⁵ Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.

—James 1:14-15

THE ISSUE OF DESIRE

Notice in Matthew 12:35 that Jesus speaks of the heart, saying that it can bring forth good or evil things. James 1:14 speaks to the issue of desire. Although the scripture points out the negative effects of the operation, it presents a principle. 

Drawn away by his own desires in that verse refers to what we defined earlier as your will’s intense purpose and intent. Only in this case, it is working toward evil. Desire will still operate the same way outside the vine, but it is twisted into an altered version of desire’s godly purpose—it is turned into lust. Again, simply put, if a person desires, or in this case, lusts after something evil long enough, you will get a version of it, as it will go from godly desire to lust and finally enticement. The enticement is deceptive, leading toward sin and death. 

A clear example of this was found in the way the serpent spoke to Eve in the garden until they both partook of the fruit. Enticement played on desire, turned into lust, until they were deceived and sinned against God. 

James speaks to believers filled with wrong desires who would attempt to ask God for what they wanted only to satisfy their lust. James 4:3 says, “You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.” 

Now let’s finish the good part Jesus was leading up to in John 15. 

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. ⁸ By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

—John 15:7-8

If you are abiding in Him and He is abiding in you, which means His words are actively present in your heart and mind then He is abiding in you. Once this progression is active in your being, what comes next is those who abide ask. But here is the part I wanted to get to! “Ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” Yet, Jesus goes on to say, “By this My Father is glorified…” How is the Father glorified? That you bear much fruit! 

Abide in Jesus, have His words abiding in you, in this state, ask whatever you desire and it shall be done for you. This is the way God is glorified, that you bear much fruit by asking what you desire. You asking what you desire, while abiding, is the mechanism for bearing much fruit, and it glorifies God. Jesus finally said so you will be My disciples. 

By learning this process is how we operate as disciples of Jesus! Abiding, asking, receiving, and bearing MUCH FRUIT in that receiving which glorifies the Father.  

Here is the way we bear MUCH FRUIT. Dream big, meditate on it with intent and purpose which means have a plan, and attack it with all your heart, be diligent and watch it come to pass. The bigger the fruit, the bigger the glorification of God the Father. 

It’s time to start thinking about what you’re thinking about. Whatever it is that God has called you to do, it is time to start thinking bigger about it and expanding the law of your mind to receive and build what you believe and see inside your heart. 

OUR DESIRE

This is exactly what I am doing with this ministry and Total Media Broadcast. Reaching a Million for a Billion is powerful, and it will likely take a lifetime to build until it is time to pass the torch to another generation. 

The World Broadcast Center is being developed, and we will continue to advance the leading World Broadcast Studio until it is effectively offering daily LIVE broadcasts, programs, daily television, a variety of podcasts, and every available voice to communicate the message of the gospel to every part of the world. We can measure one million disciples equipped to reach a billion. As we advance toward that goal, we desire to acquire more land for additional conferences and event locations and efficient travel to be where we need to be faster and back to broadcast and build content. 

Partners, thank you. We pray for you constantly. I believe this desire God has placed upon us will change the world!
